FROM CITY OF HOUSTON, Waynette Chan Chief of Staff, Public Works and Engineering Dear Chin-ning,Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! I can't think of any words to accurately describe my appreciation for your time, effort and presentation.
Once I found my car keys and started driving home, my Blackberry kept going off so that by the time I walked into my apartment, there must have been a dozen or more emails expressing delight at the gift you gave to our employees both professionally and personally. There were voicemail messages on my home phone that reiterated the email messages. The least of the communications said you gave them something to think about, the most said you confirmed and expanded their tool boxes as a manager and as a human being. I couldn't have asked for anything more. You were a bolt of lightening!
As you and I discussed,I will begin a series of brown bag lunches to keep the stimulation up and provide a forum for questions, exchange of experiences and give support to those who are the future leaders of our city. Several of the participants expressed interest and I believe it is important to feed the seeds that you planted so well.
I am writing to you from my personal email. Please add me to your list of friends and let me know how you are doing and where you are appearing. I will be business traveling some during the next few months and if we are in the same city,I will sneak into one of your appearances. In the meantime, know that you have a lifelong friend here in Houston. With the greatest affection and respect, Waynette
